Are you fed up with the system?

Are you tired of not being able to care for your patients the way you know you should? Tired of being a cog in a broken healthcare system? Burned out after a rich clinical career? Looking for a creative way to use your knowledge and skills?

This may just be the new career for which you have been searching – the innovative new role for experienced clinical RNs. In my 41 years as a clinical RN, the last 7 as an independent RN Patient Advocate have certainly been the most rewarding.

Our Mission Statement says it all:

our mission: to empower people in their healthcare through advocacy, education and guidance through the healthcare system.

The RN Patient Advocates’ vision:

To improve healthcare in the US through the coordinated efforts of a National Network of RN Patient Advocates working cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the best healthcare outcomes possible utilizing the full range of treatment modalities.

You will be an independent professional, have your own private practice. We will teach you how.

RN Patient Advocates’ business philosophy can become yours:

The patient is at the center of the healthcare model.

Healthcare is based on wellness, not disease suppression.

Health literacy teaching is based on information from medical institutions and authorities with no commercial bias.

A focus of the development of Patient Advocate services in the US should always be clinical RNs, historically the best Patient Advocates through training and practice.

The emerging field of Patient Advocacy services requires standardization and internal Quality Assurance mechanisms to ensure the best in patient advocacy care. Experienced clinical RNs are the most trusted members of the healthcare team and the obvious choice to create the clinically based role of Patient Advocate.

Testimonials

I’ve rarely seen a teaching style that’s more infectious and compelling than Karen Mercereau’s. Though the training itself is very focused and intense, I can truthfully say that my RN Patient Advocate training experience was a personal life-changing event. Karen presents herself as a truly dedicated, well-prepared leader in such a vitally important course of direction in healthcare for patients and caregivers alike. I highly recommend this course to any experienced clinical RN who wants to be a professional pioneer in this emerging field of patient advocacy.

Realizing there was little communication between providers, departments, facilities and patients I knew there was a need to provide a service that supported patients and families through the healthcare system. While researching what services were already available I came across the RN Patient Advocates’ website. I gave Karen Mercereau a call and found a warm and friendly nurse who was excited about what she does and willing to share her experiences. Now those in the nursing field know that in itself was refreshing.

I am a seasoned well educated registered nurse yet I had no idea how to put a business together. Karen has developed a program to teach other nurses how to start their own RN patient advocacy business. She organized all her experience into an intense immersion program that shared her knowledge in order for each of us to build our business and avoid the pitfalls. Karen provided a process to evaluate clients, develop the business and identify resources. I knew I could now move forward.

In making my decision to take the class, I realized that the cost of start-up was minimal so the cost of the tools I needed to do this right was the investment I had to make, after all this was my reputation!! I was enthralled with how well the class was organized. There was never a moment that we weren’t busy. I left with a new enthusiasm and assurance that I now had all the information I needed to start my business the right way. I now have the tools needed to ensure a great service as well as all the forms, assessment tools, business tools, marketing tools and resources to confidently move forward and do what I do best, advocating for patients and families. I now have 3 clients and am working towards getting more; the word is out and I’m ready. I don’t know where this will bring me but I know I have the tools and support I need to move on up and create a service that is desperately needed.

I would say to all of you: take the course and get the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to get going. I would never have been able to put my business together without the expertise that Karen shares in her classes. I would highly recommend the RN Patient Advocate class to anyone thinking about developing their own RN patient advocacy business. You won’t regret a cent of what you’ve invested, I promise.
